A high-school band like the thousands before, and the thousands after in the mid ninety's, Pseudo Star blended guitar noise and feedback influence from Sonic Youth and Pink Floyd, the lyrical influence of Bob Dylan and David Bowie, to the then new Canadian Rock sounds of Sloan, Eric's Trip, and Treble Charger, while admiring the classic rock legends such as The Who and The Beatles. Pseudo Star stayed true to the root of music from the 1960's, and hoped to maintain a band motto of being able to "entertain any crowd". Pseudo Star found themselves playing at a wide variety of shows - everything from wrestling matches to charity fund raisers, to variety stores, to a 200 person show at a gazebo in the middle of town, to small garages and basements, to the Dresden Fair Battle of the Bands, and not to mention several years of Arts Fest. They only ended up playing one actual, licensed, bar (Beatniks). In 1998 and 1999, Pseudo Star had the privilege of entering The House of Bleen Studio, to record an album. Mostly produced by Craig, and engineered by Dennis of Square Root of Margaret, the album was literally shelved for years, but seen the light of day in 2003, simply self titled "Pseudo Star". The band did disband in 1999 to pursue careers and education. Influences included: Beatles, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys, Breeders, Byrds, Carpenters, Cars, Cream, Clash, David Bowie, Eric's Trip, Elvis, Grant Browning, Jimi Hendrix, Jason McFadden, Kramer, Led Zeppelin, Monkees, Neil Diamond, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nirvana, Pavement, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rolling Stones, Square Root of Margaret, Simon and Garfunkle, Sloan, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Treble Charger, The Who, Ween, Weezer. | ||||||
